Punch
Uppercut
The uppercut is a vertical punch thrown upward, devastating at close range and against opponents who drop their head. It uses a leg drive and slight dip to generate lift and power.
How to do it
- 1Dip slightly at the knees, keeping posture upright.
- 2Drive up through the legs.
- 3Punch upward with the palm facing you, elbow tight.
- 4Snap back to guard.
Common mistakes
- Dropping the hand low to load up (telegraph).
- Leaning back instead of dipping down.
- Throwing from too far out.
