Punch

Hook

The hook is a bent-arm punch that travels sideways, typically with the lead hand, targeting the side of the head or body. It's a knockout punch because it lands on angles opponents don't see coming.

How to do it

  1. 1Keep the elbow bent at roughly 90 degrees.
  2. 2Rotate the hips and pivot the lead foot.
  3. 3Swing the arm level, turning the fist as you connect.
  4. 4Return tight to guard — never drop the hand after.

Common mistakes

  • Swinging with a loose, wide arm.
  • Forgetting to pivot the foot.
  • Dropping the opposite hand.
